Marines with 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force, introduce themselves to British soldiers of the 5, 6, and 7 Military Intelligence Battalion, 1 Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Brigade, at the beginning of the field and interoperability training portion of Exercise Phoenix Odyssey, Sept. 11, 2014. Approximately 100 British soldiers were taught the Marine Corps’ Structured Analytic Techniques over a period of three days from Sept. 8-11, in order to provide insight and familiarity before beginning the scenario-driven portion of Phoenix Odyssey. The two forces will be co-located in a Military Operations in Urban Terrain training facility on Camp Lejeune for the remaining seven days of Exercise Phoenix Odyssey. Royal Moroccan intelligence personnel teamed up with U.S. Marines and German forces for a week to build understanding of the processes each use to gather information essential to a commander to make informed decisions on the battelfield. Exercise African Lion 14 is a multi-lateral and combined-joint exercise between the Kingdom of Morocco, the U.S. and other partner nations designed to strengthen relationships with participating countries by increasing understanding of each nation's military capabilities.
