Mission Statement
The 8th Communication Battalion will establish, maintain, and defend communication networks simultaneously for MAGTF Command Elements (CE), Marine Component Headquarters (MCHQ), and/or Combined and Joint Task Force (JTF) Headquarters in order to facilitate II Marine Expeditionary Force’s ability to command and control forces.

Sergeant Major Winford Morris Jr
8th Communication Battalion

Sergeant Major Morris was born in Meridian, Mississippi. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 25 March 1998. He attended recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina. After graduating recruit training he attended Marine Combat School (MCT) at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Following completion of MCT, he attended MOS school at Twenty Nine Palms, California, for Field Radio Operator (0621).
