Mission Statement

The mission of the Battle Simulation Center is to provide exercise force commanders the means to accomplish training objectives and exercise goals in a realistic, simulated battlefield situation.

KEY POINTS FOR LEADERS

The II MEF Battle Simulation Center (BSC) is the Marine Corps’ first purpose-built simulation facility, and is aimed directly at supporting II MEF units. With 17 dedicated simulation classrooms and 26 miles of high-performance cabling, the BSC is equipped to support training from fireteam to MEF levels.

  • Using the MAFTF Tactical Warfare Simulation (MTWS), the II MEF BSC is ready to support MEF-level exercises in its reconfigurable staff training rooms. From breakout working groups to real-time wargaming, the II MEF BSC can allow commanders and staffs to experiment, wargame, and train in cost- and risk-effective ways.

  • With the brand-new JTAC Virtual Trainer (JVT) and Virtual Battlespace (VBS) systems, the II MEF BSC can give Marines “sets and reps” at controlling aircraft, calling for fires, and experimenting with organic precision fires capability.

  • The II MEF BSC team can work with stakeholders to rapidly develop custom simulation modules - whether it’s experimenting with new systems, building a replica of real-world operating areas, or taking professional military education to the next level with wargaming.

The II MEF BSC supports training, wargaming, and experimentation with both organic initiatives and coordination with a constellation of partners from across the Marine Corps. From the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab to MARSOC, Marine Corps Installations East, and Marine Corps University, the BSC is at the forefront of enabling commanders to tailor cutting-edge training and experimentation to their units’ needs.

  • The II MEF BSC is uniquely positioned to support experimentation, simulation development, and wargaming innovation. As a Fleet entity, the BSC has a direct line to Fleet units for everything from testing in-house innovations to supporting novel command post concepts in its robust outdoor command post space.

  • The II MEF BSC serves as the II MEF owned and operated touchpoint for integrating external simulation capabilities, whether it’s MCWL’s experimentation or the training support concepts from TECOM’s Project Tripoli.

The II MEF BSC is designed from the ground up to have room to grow. With networking infrastructure ready to support new capabilities as they emerge and spaces designed for flexibility, the BSC is poised to integrate emerging technologies at the speed of relevance.

  • Thanks to an expanding additive manufacturing capability, the II MEF BSC is at the forefront of producing bespoke wargaming materials and devices that mirror the form, fit, and function of real-world systems for a fraction of the cost of using legacy contracted support.

  • The II MEF BSC is II MEF’s hub for new, “always-on” training networks like the Marine Training and Education Network (MTEN) and the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN), dramatically reducing the overhead for units to train and experiment with their counterparts across the globe.
