U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jacob Gilmore follows his family's legacy

U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment (1/2), 2nd Marine Division (MARDIV) accepted an invitation from The Commandant of the Netherlands Marine Corps to participate in a unique training experience in the Surinamese jungles in Northern South America. The Suriname Army hosted an eight-week jungle training course between March 27 and May 16, 2023. Four Marines participated in the training courses called the Jungle Movement and Survival Course and the Jungle Warfare Instructor Course.

Dutch Marine helps strengthen bonds between nations

The U.S. Marine Corps and the Netherlands Marine Corps have a long-standing relationship dating back to 1943 and have exchanged officers to share knowledge and strengthen relationships between nations. Most recently, the commanding general of 2d Marine Division recognized it’s 22nd Netherlands exchange officer, Capt. Fabian Schra.

II MEF Certifies First Special Operations-Capable MEU in a Decade

II Marine Expeditionary Force has certified the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit as a Special Operations Capable Marine Air-Ground Task Force. The designation of MEU(SOC) is a first for the Marine Corps in more than a decade. The designation continues to demonstrate the Marine Corps’ ability to integrate with the Joint Force in support of daily campaigning, crisis response, and integrated deterrence missions.

Ready, Relevant, and Capable: 26th MEU Completes Final Certification Exercise

Marines and Sailors with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (BAT ARG) and 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) participated in their culminating deployment certification event, Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X), aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), and Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), from May 16 to June 6, 2023.
