The 2nd Marine Logistics Group (MLG) has officially completed its move into a new, purpose-built
Sirens pierced through the walls of the C-130 Hercules aircraft that he rode, indicating that rockets were inbound somewhere on the installation. The aircraft was forced to conduct a “combat landing,” taking a steeper angle than usual to land to avoid enemy fires. The year was 2011, and U.S. Marine Sgt. Allen Ravan, a Charleston, South Carolina, native and an airframes mechanic with Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 513, had just landed at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan.
Permann was selected by his command due to his constant dedication to the mission success while serving as section Leader, jumpmaster and embarkation chief for 1st Platoon Air Distribution Company. His responsibilities include providing logistical planning, management, and the execution of Air Distribution Company operations. As a Jumpmaster, Permann has conducted, planned, executed, and supervised over 12 cargo and personnel drops within the past three months. When asked what advice he would give to junior Marines, Permann said, "Stay motivated and never forget what it felt like when you first earned your Eagle, Globe, and Anchor." Each week, 2nd MLG recognizes one outstanding Marine or Sailor that goes above and beyond in their duties and embodies the qualities of an outstanding service member.
