U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. William Hoskins, a legal clerk with Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division, poses for a photograph on Camp Lejeune, N.C., June 24, 2021. “Hard work pays off,” said Hoskins, a native of Brighton, Colo. According to his leadership, Hoskins holds two primary, and demanding, billets within the unit. As the Awards/Promotion Clerk and Legal Chief, he has assessed over 34 cases this month. Additionally, he served as a narrator for two retirement ceremonies within the battalion, to include the Division Chief of Staff’s retirement ceremony. U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Tyler Martin, an aircraft ordnance technician with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 115, poses for a photo at Rissala Air Base, near Kuopio, Finland, June 14, 2021. “The past is the past and it makes up who you are, but don’t let the past define who you become, and always keep moving in the right direction,” said Martin, a native of Jonesboro, Georgia. According to his leadership, Martin has taken the responsibility as the desk sergeant for the ordnance division in the absence of an non-commissioned officer. He is a team leader, a billet normally held by a corporal or above. Since arriving in Kuopio, Finland, Martin has taken his role as a team leader to the next level by supervising and directing the Marines of the ordnance shop for the entire flight schedule. Martin leads the morning meetings, issues orders and roles to the Marines, and ensures the flight schedule is ready for the day.
