2d MARDIV Commanding General Recognizes Marines With Headquarters Battalion

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rafael Lozada, an ammunition technician with Ammunition Company, 2nd Combat Readiness Regiment, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, counts blank ammunition on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, April 17, 2024. Lozada was selected by his command for his diligence, commitment, and seamless ability to handle a multitude of tasks. Lozada’s accomplishment include completing over 800 issue and turn-in transactions, coupled with conducting more than 150 vehicle inspections, while being praised for high ethics and efficiency. When asked why he joined the Marine Corps Lozada said, “I played football in college for three years prior to joining the military, and a lot of it is similar. In football it is all about having attention to detail, which makes the difference between winning and losing. In the Marine Corps paying attention to the details is even more important because it isn’t just win or lose, it can be life or death.” Each week, 2nd MLG recognizes one outstanding Marine or Sailor that goes above and beyond in their duties and embodies the whole Marine concept. Lance Cpl. Rafael Lozada; 2nd Marine Logistics Group Warrior of the Week

U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Raymond Hower, a native of California and an AV-8B Harrier II jet pilot with Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 223, places U.S. flags inside an AV-8B Harrier II before a flight honoring his great-uncle Louis A. Conter was the last known survivor of the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and passed away April 1, 2024. Newkirk was selected as the 2nd MLG Warrior of the Week for his efforts during the 2nd Medical Battalion Certification Exercise. Newkirk led 20 Sailors in setting up six 305 tents for Medical Role II certification and assisted CLB 451 with the setup of their 305-hygiene utility tent, decreasing Role II establishment time by 15 percent. When asked what his favorite part of his job was, Newkirk said “It’s teaching the people who haven’t been out to the field, not to survive but to thrive and enjoy being in the field.” Each week, 2nd MLG recognizes one outstanding Marine or Sailor that goes above and beyond in their duties and embodies the qualities of an outstanding service member.
