Task Force 61/2 Naval Amphibious Forces
Europe/24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (TF-61)
is established to command and control Fleet
Marine Forces and assigned Naval Forces in
support of the commander of U.S. Sixth Fleet.
TF-61 will synchronize Navy and Marine Corps
units and capabilities already in theater, in
support of regional Allies and Partners,
and U.S. national security interests.

Formidable Shield 23

Formidable Shield is a biennial, integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) exercise involving a series of live-fire events against subsonic, supersonic, and ballistic targets, incorporating multiple Allied ships, aircraft, and ground forces working across battlespaces to deliver effects.

FASTEUR Marines conduct patrol and live-fire training

U.S. Marines with Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company Europe (FASTEUR), conduct patrol base operations and live-fire training in Rota, Spain, July 25-27, 2022. Commander, Task Force 61/2 provides FASTEUR capabilities such as rapid response expeditionary anti-terrorism and security operations in support of Commanders, United States European Command (COMUSEUCOM) and Africa Command (COMUSAFRICOM), and as directed by Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet (C6F) in order to protect vital naval and national assets.
