Iron Horse Going Dark: Deactivation of C Company 2d Tank Battalion
U.S. Marines with Company C, 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, commemorated their history and said final goodbyes to M1A1 Abrams tanks that served them at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, July 24, 2020. After 78 years of service, Company C is the first company in 2nd Tank Battalion to deactivate as part of the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ plan for a modern force.
