Royal Marine to Receive Bronze Star for Service Alongside U.S. Marines in Afghanistan

Second Marine Division is proud to announce that Maj. James A. Fuller, of the British Royal Marines, is being awarded a Bronze Star today, June 3, 2020, on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, for his contributions while deployed with Task Force Southwest as the Task Force future operations officer, from June 1, 2018, to May 31, 2019, in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Camp Lejeune to host Memorial Day salute of 21-minute guns

In accordance with U.S. Naval Regulations, a salute of 21-minute guns will be rendered by Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment at noon Monday, May 25, 2020, in observance of Memorial Day. During the salute, the flag is flown at half mast, and the guns are discharged at one-minute intervals.

MCB Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River prepare for Hurricane Season

Hurricane season is a part of life for residents living along the eastern seaboard, and with the recent passage of Tropical Storm Arthur this week, ahead of the official hurricane season, there is already a renewed focus on upcoming weather anomalies. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River prepare for destructive weather and plan months in advance to ensure all assets in the path of future storms are secured and protected. Hurricane season begins June 1 and extends to November 30.

VMFA-251 Deactivates, Legacy Continues

Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251, the “Thunderbolts” deactivated during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, April 23. The ceremony was held to commemorate the unit’s nearly 80 years of service to our country, but the Thunderbolts won’t be gone long. Their colors will be temporarily cased and the unit will become an F-35C squadron at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Never Enough: Marine’s Vision for Improvement Earns her Innovation Award

Today, Sgt. Jennifer Wilbur has less than 60 days left in the Marine Corps, but she is not yet done making her mark. As the chief instructor for the College of Enlisted Military Education Courses at 2nd Maintenance Battalion, she is pushing for a radical change in how Marines learn to problem-solve.
