MARFORCOM assumes command of CBIRF and MCSFR

Lieutenant General Robert B. Neller, Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, assumed direct command and administrative, operational and logistic responsibility for Chemical Incident Response Force (CBIRF) and Marine Corps Security Force Regiment (MCSFR) on June 5.

CBIRF, formerly subordinate to II Marine Expeditionary Force, will subsequently be designated as CBIRF, MARFORCOM. When directed, CBIRF, located in Indian Head, Md., forwarddeploys
and/or responds with minimal warning to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive (CBRNE) threat or events in order to assist local, state, or federal agencies
and the geographic combatant commanders in the conduct of CBRNE response or consequence management operations.

MCSFR, formerly subordinate to II Marine Expeditionary Force, will subsequently be designated as MCSFR, MARFORCOM. MCSFR, located in Yorktown, Va., deploys Marines across the globe and provides limited duration expeditionary antiterrorism and security forces in support of designated component and geographic combatant commanders in order to protect vital
naval and national assets.
