U.S. Marines with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, participate in Camerone day 2026 in La Cavalerie, France, April 28, 2026. Camerone day is an annual battle commemoration for the French Foreign Legion, that commemorates the 1863 Battle of Camerone where a company of 65 legionnaires stood against nearly 2000 Mexican infantry and cavalry, whose refusal to surrender forged the Legion’s identity and esprit de corps.
