U.S. Marines participate in exercise Arctic Edge 2024 across various training locations in Alaska from Feb. 23, 2024 to March 11, 2024. The exercise consisted of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) live-fire training, field testing of an AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR), practicing C-130 aircraft long range logistical operations to include ingress and egress of personnel and equipment, live-fire machine gun ranges, and field training with a Marine Corps Cold Weather Infantry Kit (MCCWIK). The arctic conditions allowed the Marines to refine their tactics, techniques, and procedures in a cold weather environment while testing their equipment in the extreme weather conditions. The active component and reserve Marines, alongside Army and Air Force counterparts, proved they are prepared to serve in any clime and place of their choosing across the globe. Arctic Edge 2024 is a U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise demonstrating the U.S. military’s capabilities in extreme cold weather, joint force readiness, and U.S. military commitment to mutual strategic security interests in the Arctic region.
