Three U.S. Marines saved a man’s life in Tallin, Estonia, when they found him unconscious and asphyxiated in a local restaurant, May 7, 2023. Lance Cpl. Colton Allen, Lance Cpl. Christopher Butemeyer, and Lance Cpl. Aiden Morey decided to eat at a local restaurant called Hesburger. While eating, they noticed a man unconscious in a booth nearby. When they moved closer to examine the distressed man, his lips were noticeably blue and his skin began to match. Understanding the gravity of the situation, the three Marines, assigned to Task Force 61/2 (TF 61/2), Mobile Reconnaissance Company (CTG 61/2.4), sprang into action.

While heavy winter storms hit much of the continental United States, thousands of service members are currently in Scandinavia, taking part in large, multinational Arctic warfare training. Arctic Forge 23 is currently underway, with American, German, Finnish, Norwegian and other nations’ troops doing everything from skiing to dunking themselves in freezing water as part of the exercise.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Today will be a happy day for service members and their families in Jacksonville. U.S. Marines and sailors from 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, will return home to Camp Lejeune after participating in the Unit Deployment Program in Okinawa, Japan.

NAPLES, Italy - Marines and Sailors from II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF), led by Col. Ryan Hoyle, commanding officer of 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU), arrived in Naples, Italy as the third iteration of II MEF’s support to Task Force 61 Naval Amphibious Force Europe (TF-61), Jan. 23, 2023.

Marines from Eastern North Carolina are taking part in a weeklong training exercise to make sure they are ready for future deployments. 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is conducting Distributed Aviation Operations Exercise One (DAO EX-1) at various locations throughout Eastern North Carolina through Friday. The exercise began Monday and will validate warfighting concepts in support of Force Design 2030 initiatives, ensuring 2nd MAW is ready now and for the fight of the future.

The U.S. Marine Corps’ (USMC) newest helicopter, the heavy-hauling CH-53K King Stallion, successfully lifted a U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter on December 13th of last year. Details on the demonstration, as well as accompanying images, were released on January 23.

Every year, roughly 8,000 noncitizens join the U.S. military. Currently, 35,000 or so noncitizens serve, according to the most recent data from U-S Customs and Immgration Services. In early December, an historic 18 marines became U.S. citizens aboard the USS North Carolina at Camp Lejeune, hailing from 14 different countries.
