A U.S. Marine Corps UH-1Y Venom helicopter assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 (HMLA-269), Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, prepares to land during Exercise America Strike at Bombing Target 11, Piney Island, North Carolina, Jan. 22, 2026. The training enabled joint terminal attack controllers and joint fires observers to build and validate close-air support proficiency and certify personnel for operational readiness. Bombing Target 11, an outlying field operated by Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, provides the infrastructure and realistic training environment necessary for units to safely and effectively employ air-delivered munitions.
