U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Garret Weimer, a force reconnaissance Marine with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, climbs out of the water while conducting a cold-water exercise during Winter Warfare Course in Kalix, Sweden, Jan. 7, 2026. The purpose of WWC is to train ground forces in a variety of cold-weather subjects, including skiing, how to use pulk sleds, develop winter fighting positions, camouflage and concealment, and several other areas that are vital in order to survive and operate in a cold-weather environment.
