Col. Thomas Trimble, commanding officer, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, discusses the features of a group 3 unmanned aerial system with II Marine Expeditionary Force leaders at a flight demonstration on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Oct. 23, 2024. The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit held a test flight on Oct. 22 and a demonstration for II MEF leadership on Oct. 23 as part of an initiative to employ an expeditionary group 3 UAS platform with modernized capabilities to enhance the 22nd MEU information, surveillance, and reconnaissance operational requirements, organic mobility, and further enable the 22nd MEU to serve as an expeditionary crisis response force while forward deployed.
