U.S. Representatives Jake Ellzey (TX-06), and Don Davis (NC-01), lead a bipartisan congressional delegation visit to Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on Sept. 12, 2025, providing updates to House of Representatives members about Force Design 2030, quality of life issues and aerial refueling initiatives.

U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Ralph J. Rizzo, Jr., commanding general, Marine Corps Installations East (MCIEAST)–-MCB Camp Lejeune, welcomed members of the For Country Caucus upon landing at W.P.T. Hill Field, followed by opening statements from Congressmen Ellzey and Davis. The delegation then received an MV-22 Osprey capabilities brief, hosted by Marine Aircraft Group 26.

The delegation also toured several legacy and modern barracks facilities across MCB Camp Lejeune, during which  MCIEAST leaders emphasized that while the Marine Corps has long demonstrated the ability to accomplish more with fewer resources, proper housing for Marines and their families cannot be compromised. At MCB Camp Lejeune, they said, the demand for updated barracks and base housing remains critical, adding Congressional investment in these facilities is not merely an infrastructure initiative it is a strategic imperative that enhances Corps’ overall readiness and honors the sacrifices made by Marines and their families.

The visit concluded with a luncheon at The Club at Paradise Point, where the delegation met with junior Marines and Sailors to hear directly about their experiences. The discussion provided an open forum for service members to share feedback on quality-of-life initiatives and living conditions on MCB Camp Lejeune.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to sit down with our representatives today,” said Lance Cpl. Sherlyn Mezaponce, data systems administrator, 2nd MARDIV. “It means a lot to know that our voices matter and that our concerns are being heard directly. This conversation gave me confidence that our leadership is committed to improving the quality of life for Marines.”
