1 Dec 2005 | Sgt. Tracee L. Jackson II Marine Expeditionary Force

Lt. Governor of N.C., Beverly E. Perdue, visited the Wounded Warrior's Barracks here Dec. 1 to greet Marines wounded in the War on Terrorism and show military support.  Perdue toured the new facility and offered words of encouragement to the Marines.

The Injured Support Barracks currently houses 13 Marines who were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The barracks were renovated in answer to the growing need for accessible housing for Marines wounded in combat. Fourteen first-floor rooms have been made accessible with ramps and grab bars, two rooms made wheelchair accessible and ramp access is added to the building.
