MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.-- -- Lt. General James F. Amos, commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force, presented the wife of the late Lt. Col. Richard M. Wersel III $40,000 in U.S. Treasury bonds from the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation July 25. The bonds were donated via Linda and Jack Matney Special Scholarships, and will be used toward the college education of Wersel’s surviving children, who plan to pursue higher education. Mrs. Wersel thanked the association and the Marine Corps for their outstanding support. “If Rich were here today, he would be proud of you and society for stepping up to help us fill this financial and emotional gap,” she said, “I am honored.”
