MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES -- U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Sean Catarroja, a small arms repairman with Headquarters and Service Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group and native of Jersey City, New Jersey, was selected as the Warrior of the Week by his command for his exceptional performance and dedication to unit readiness.
Catarroja serves as the battalion's armory maintenance chief, inspecting, servicing, and guiding his team through monthly preventive maintenance checks of over 1,000 service rifles, which contributes to the battalion's 98% readiness. Catarroja ensures the readiness of a wide range of weapon systems by performing repairs on malfunctioning weapons both in the armory and in the field.
Along with his normal duties, Catarroja also mentors his Marines and ensures the completion of training for approximately 20 Marines in preparation for their annual rifle qualification. Catarroja's dedication to the unit is reflected in his initiative, as seen in taking on duties such as leading the armory's Radiation Management Program.
When asked what motivates him most about his job, Catarroja said, "The Marines to my left and right. They look up to me and my expertise within my MOS to do the best that I can to make sure that these weapons are in tiptop shape."
Each week, 2nd MLG recognizes one outstanding Marine or Sailor who goes above and beyond in their duties and embodies the qualities of an outstanding service member. (U.S. Marine Corps story by Lance Cpl. Brady V. Hathaway)
