2nd Marine Division marches for their birthday

Marines with 2nd Marine Division participated in a 50 mile hike at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 1, 2017. The hike originated in 1908 with an executive order administered by President Theodore Roosevelt and has since then only been attempted and completed twice since its inception. The hike was a challenge open to officers and enlisted personnel and allowed the Marines to bond as a unit as they step together.

A Day in the Life of Cpl. Novelly; II MEF Marine of the Year

Corporal Anthony Novelly, a collateral duty inspector with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, was awarded the II MEF Marine of the Year award, March 20, 2015. Novelly stood out above his peers and the Marines he competed against, throughout the selection process for the award, and received the award from Maj. Gen. William Beydler, the commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force.

Two accomplished sergeants major came together in a relief and appointment ceremony aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Sept. 23, 2014, exchanging the time-honored billet of sergeant major for the II Marine Expeditionary Force. Sgt. Maj. Robert VanOostrom, who served as sergeant major of 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force since March 2012, handed over the Sword of Office to Sgt. Maj.
