Marines with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion made sure to plug their ears as they fired the loudest shoulder fired weapon in the Marine Corps weapons arsenal, the Shoulder launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon, during a range training event at Camp Lejeuene, N.C., Nov. 11, 2016. The event was geared towards those Marines who have never had hands on experience with the SMAW. Marines with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division participated in Integrated Training Exercise 1-17 at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., October 21 through November 12, 2016. The exercise was in preparation for the unit’s upcoming deployment with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response and the Black Sea Rotational Force.

Approximately 30 Marines with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion conducted a live-fire range utilizing the MK153 Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Sept. 29, 2015. The range was put together to better familiarize the Marines with the weapons system for an upcoming deployment.

Marines with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, trained with the M203 40mm grenade launcher and the shoulder-launched multipurpose assault weapon, or SMAW, aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, April 23, 2015. The M203 is a rifle-fired grenade launcher which is attached to an M16-A4 service rifle and fire a 40mm grenade.
