Marines with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, completed construction of a storage facility April 2, 2015 aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The Marines and sailors of 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division conducted a deactivation ceremony for the unit aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 1, 2015. The unit was reactivated in 2007 as part of the continuing Global War on Terror where they were deployed in support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom earning awards such as the Iraq Campaign Streamer with two Bronze Stars, the Afghanistan Campaign Streamer with two Bronze Stars and the Global War on Terrorism Service Streamer. Marines, sailors and families with II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, participated in a “Praetorian Challenge” field meet aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Oct. 10, 2014. Participants were challenged to go back to their warrior roots by competing in events such as rock climbing, a 7-ton vehicle pull, pugil stick bouts and a tug-of-war challenge. The events helped the Marines build unit cohesion and increase readiness through friendly competition. At the conclusion of the meet, 2nd Intelligence Battalion was declared the winner.
