Second Marine Division (Forward) recently released a new six-part series entitled "Commanding General Reflects on Helmand." The series of intimate interviews with the commanding general of 2nd Marine Division (Forward) highlights the challenges and successes the Marines and sailors of the division made during their tenure as the ground combat element of the Marine Air Ground Task Force and Regional Command (Southwest) during the last year. In the fourth installment, Brig. Gen. Lewis Craparotta discusses the progress made in Sangin, the most highly contested area in Helmand province. Also available in high definition.

A Day in the Life of Cpl. Novelly; II MEF Marine of the Year

Corporal Anthony Novelly, a collateral duty inspector with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, was awarded the II MEF Marine of the Year award, March 20, 2015. Novelly stood out above his peers and the Marines he competed against, throughout the selection process for the award, and received the award from Maj. Gen. William Beydler, the commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force.

In the second installment Brig. Gen. Lewis Craparotta discusses the closure of insurgent smuggling routes in southern Helmand. Craparotta also delves into disruption and clearing operations, which took place prior to the insurgents' spring offensive during the early months of 2011. Also available in high definition.
