Marines with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion and Marine Corps Engineer School continue construction of a new fire-and-maneuver range at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 1, 2017. The range is being built to provide the Marines of 2nd Marine Division the ability to train on a large-scale fire-and-maneuver range with potential breaching obstacles. Thirty-six machine gunners from various units graduated the Advanced Machine Gunners Course, at the Advanced Infantry Training Battalion-East, aboard Camp Geiger, North Carolina, May 22, 2015. During their six-week long course, the machine gunners were broken down and built back up to develop them as the next machine gun leaders at all levels.

Second Marine Division (Forward) recently released a new six-part series entitled "Commanding General Reflects on Helmand." The series of intimate interviews with the commanding general of 2nd Marine Division (Forward) highlights the challenges and successes the Marines and sailors of the division made during their tenure as the ground combat element of the Marine Air Ground Task Force and Regional Command (Southwest) during the last year. In the fifth installment, Brig. Gen. Lewis Craparotta discusses how TFL finished the year strong by striking the heart of the insurgency in and around Kajaki. B-roll about how the new gym aboard Forward Operating Base Delaram II, Afghanistan is a permanent structure with more than 6000 square feet of concrete floors. It replaces the old gym which was 4 small tents connected together. Marines had a hard time working out in the old gym due to space constrictions and temperature extremes, the new faculties improve both these hardships.
