Marines with 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division conducted amphibious training aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., March 17-20, 2015. The Marines conducted various events throughout the week which included: basic boat manipulation, boat formations, surf passages, scout swimmer operations and a culminating event which combined everything they have learned.

Uncharted Waters: Marines, Coast Guardsmen navigate the water

A group of U.S. Marines with 2nd Intelligence Battalion joined with U.S. Coast Guardsmen this week to survey waters past the piers of Coast Guard Station Oak Island, N.C., Aug. 29 to Sep. 2, 2016. The Marines teamed up with U.S. Coast Guardsmen at USCG Station Oak Island, N.C., to create a topographical layout of waterways that were previously unidentifiable. The new maps will correct navigation discrepancies such as off-station buoys or extinguished lights. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Kaitlyn V. Klein)

Marines Train to Fire Machine Guns from Boats

Short bursts of gunfire drowned out the rattle of bullet casings as they piled up on the deck of the boat. When the firing ceased, a Marine climbed down from the elevated boat and another stepped up to man the gun. Marines with Bridge Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group conducted a training exercise here that not only tested their shooting abilities but all aspects of their jobs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1. Joint Engineering Effort Builds Bridges Between U.S. Army, Marines

Combat engineers from Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, based out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., perform general maintenance on several Mark II bridge erection boats on an improved ribbon bridge spanning a section of the Helmand River, outside Combat Outpost Payne, Afghanistan, May 12. The Marines also aided the Army with manning guard posts, assisting convoys with getting across the bridge and monitoring the river. The Marines and U.S. Army Soldiers used the boats to keep the bridge steady and make adjustments to the bridge bays when needed. Produced by Cpl. Rashaun X. James. Also available in high definition.
