Marines and sailors gathered for an intimate memorial and remembrance hosted by Marine Aircraft Group 29 at Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., Jan. 29, 2016, to honor the 12 fallen Marines of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463. Two CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters with HMH-463 were involved in a mishap on Jan. 14, 2016, while conducting a training exercise approximately two miles off the northern coast of Oahu. Marine Aircraft Group 29 conducted close air support and an escort training in preparation for Large Scale Exercise 15. LSE-15 is a combined U.S. Marine Corps, Canadian and British exercise conducted at the Brigade-level, which is designed to enable live, virtual and constructive training for participating forces, supports U.S. Nation Security Strategy and allows participating nations to strengthen partnerships and their ability to operate together.

Landing support specialists with Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, conducted helicopter support team operations with Marine Heavy Helicopter Training Squadron 302, Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd Marine Air Wing, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Jan. 29, 2015. Marines would practice and rotate positions to become familiar with each portion of a HST. This is an annual training requirement for landing support specialist Marines.
