Master Gunnery Sergeant Daniel A. Sigala enlisted in the Marine Corps on 05 August 2001, in El Paso, TX. He completed Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, CA in November 2001.
Upon graduation from boot camp, he reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA. In November 2001, he reported to Maintenance Management Course, Camp Lejeune, NC, where he attained the MOS of 0411/ Maintenance Management Clerk (MIMMS).
In February 2002, he reported to 3rd Battalion (BN), 4th Marines (MAR) (3/4), 29 Palms, CA. During this period, he was assigned to the Headquarter & Service (H&S) Company and served as MIMMS clerk, however, attained the 0331 MOS and became an H&S machine gunner. While serving with 3/4, he participated in OIF I, II, III and Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan. In 2005, he re-enlisted as an Infantry Mortarman and attended mortarman course aboard School of Infantry – West, Camp Pendleton, CA.
Upon completion of mortarman training, he reported to 1st BN, 5th MAR (1/5). Immediately, following his check-in to 1/5, he was assigned to the Scout Sniper Platoon. During his tenure at 1/5, he deployed on the 31st MEU, and the 11th MEU. After returning from 11th MEU, he re-enlisted to become a 0321 Reconnaissance Marine in 2009.
In May 2009, he reported to 1st Reconnaissance BN, where he was assigned to the I MEF Force Reconnaissance Company (FORECON). Upon reporting, he was assigned to 1st platoon as team 3, Assistant Team Leader. In 2011, he deployed on the 13th MEU and conducted various operations in Central Command area of operations (AOR). He returned in 2012 and received orders to III MEF FORECON.
In January 2012, he reported to III MEF FORECON and was assigned to 1st platoon as team 3 Team Leader. He deployed on the 31st MEU to various operations in Pacific Command (PACOM) AOR. In January of 2014, he was re-assigned as Platoon Sergeant for 3rd Platoon. He deployed on the 31st MEU in support of PACOM theater support engagements (TSE). In 2015, he was designated as the Maritime Raid Force Operations Chief for the 31st MEU, were he supported Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Pacific and TSE’s. He returned in 2016 where he was re-assigned to 3D Reconnaissance BN as the Future Operations Chief and supported SOCOM. In May 2016, he received order to report to Marine Combat Instructor Course (MCIC) to become a Combat Instructor at SOI-W.
In June 2016, SOI-W attended MCIC and attained the 0913 MOS. Upon completion of MCIC, he reported to Reconnaissance Training Company and was assigned as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer of Basic Reconnaissance Course. He completed his tour and received order to Training Command in 2019.
In June 2019, he reported to Training Command G-3, were he served as the Operations Chief, Ground Combat Element Planner, and Recon Production Manager. Following his tour at Training Command, in 2021, he attended the National Intelligence University (NIU) to attain an undergraduate degree in Strategic Intelligence. After graduating from NIU, in August of 2022, he was assigned to the Information Maneuver Division (IMD), Deputy Commandant of Information to serve as the Ground Reconnaissance representative and Operations Chief. In February of 2023, he deployed to Jordan, in support of a Joint Special Operations Task Force and was assigned as the J2 Chief of Operations. Upon return from deployment, he continued his duties as the IMD Operations Chief.
In July 2024, he reported to II Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG), II Marine Expeditionary Force where is currently assigned as the EOTG Senior Enlisted Leader.
His decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/combat distinguishing device (Gold star in lieu of 3rd award), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon. MGySgt Sigala is married to his wife Martha, since 2009. He has a Bachelor Degree of Science in Intelligence from the National Intelligence University.
