Officer-In-Charge, Expeditionary Operations Training Group
Lieutenant Colonel Scott D. Williams

Upon completion of BRC, he received orders to 1st Reconnaissance Company, 1st MARDIV. As a
radio-telephone operator within a recon team, he deployed with the 11th MEU (SOC) in 2001. After
returning from the deployment, LtCol Williams served as the Platoon Sergeant and lead-instructor for the
battalion's BRC preparatory platoon, where he completed his enlisted contract and began his college
studies.
In 2010, LtCol Williams earned a commission via Officer Candidate School, completed The Basic School
(TBS) and Infantry Officers' Course, and received orders to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. He deployed with
the 11th MEU as a Mechanized Rifle Platoon Commander and the USS NEW ORLEANS TRAP Force
Commander. In 2012, he transitioned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as Platoon
Commander, company Executive Officer, and the battalion's Assistant Operations Officer.
In 2014, LtCol Williams transitioned to the first SPMAGTF-CR-CC Command Element to serve as the
Commander's SOF Liaison Officer. As such, he embedded with the Combined Joint Special Operation
Task Force - Iraq in support of Operation INHERENT FREEDOM and crisis response throughout the
CENTCOM area. In 2015, he assumed command of Company A, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. A year
later, his company attached to the 11th MEU and deployed as the Maritime Raid Force Commander in
support of WESTPAC 16.2.
Upon returning from deployment, LtCol Williams graduated from resident Expeditionary Warfare School
and moved to TBS to serve as a warfighting instructor, Staff Platoon Commander, and after promotion to
Major, served as the Assistant Operations Officer and Interim Director of the Marine Corps' Martial Arts
Center of Excellence. LtCol Williams was then assigned to MMOA to serve as the Company Grade
Infantry Monitor in 2019. After two years as the monitor, LtCol Williams was selected to be the Marine
Corps Exchange Officer to the Colombian Navy and Marine Corps, where he taught warfighting
philosophy, tactics, and leadership at the Colombian Naval Academy and company grade officer PME
schools.
In 2024, LtCol Williams checked into the 2nd Marine Division G3 to serve as the Current Operations Officer
before assuming an assignment as the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines Executive Officer where he deployed on
Unit Deployment Program-East 25.1 to Japan and South Korea. Upon redeployment, Lieutenant Colonel
Williams assumed duties as the Assistant Officer in Charge, and then Officer in Charge of EOTG, II MEF,
where he currently serves.
LtCol Williams has an A.S. in Business Administration, B.S. in Education, M.S. in Management, and an
M.A. in International Relations. His personal decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, five Navy
Marine Corps Commendation Medals and three Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
