Commanding Officer, II MEF Support Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Brian M. Carthon

LtCol Brian M. Carthon was born in Long Beach, California and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in May 1998. He completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina with follow on training as a Warehousemen at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. His enlisted assignments include Supply Company, 2nd Supply Battalion; Inspector and Instructor Det B, Albany, Georgia; and Special Training Allowance Pool, Albany, Georgia. As a SSgt, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Albany State University and received a commission via the Platoon Leaders Course in 2005.
Upon completion of The Basic School and Ground Supply Officers Course, 2ndLt Carthon reported to Marine Aircraft Group 13 as the Marine Corps Property Officer in 2007. During this tour, he deployed to Iraq as a Foreign Security Forces Logistics Advisor as part of an Iraqi Police Training Team and Iraqi Border Patrol Training Team for Multi National Force-West during
Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 9-2. After the completion of his Wing and OIF tour, Capt Carthon received orders to 1st Supply Battalion in 2010 as the Executive Officer for Supply Company Forward during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 10-2. After returning from deployment, he was assigned as the 1st Supply Battalion Operations Officer and Headquarters Company Commander in 2011. After a successful Command tour, Capt Carthon was assigned as the Executive Officer for CLC 153 and deployed in support OEF 12-2 in 2012. In 2013, he received orders to the Naval Postgraduate School for Masters Studies in Computer Science. In 2015, Capt Carthon was assigned to Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) working a plethora of enterprise wide projects in the area of information technology, data systems and cloud computing technologies. After the completion of his tour at MCSC, Maj Carthon received orders to the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2018 and received a Master’s Degree in Military Studies. In 2019, he was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 25 (CLR 25) as the Regimental Executive Officer and Operations Officer. In 2020, Maj Carthon transitioned to served as the Current Operation Officer, G3, 2d Marine Logistics Group. In July 2021, LtCol Carthon reported to 3d Sustainment Group (Experimental) /3d Supply Battalion, 3d Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa Japan, were he served as the Intermediate Supply Activity, Officer In Charge responsible for the supply chain management of rations, ammunition, medical logistics and consumable repair parts for all Marine Forces operating within the Indo-Pacific region. LtCol Carthon assumed command of II MEF Support Battalion (II MSB) Jun 2022 were he is currently serving. LtCol Carthon’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (second award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (third award). He has been married to Dr. Trashonda Carthon for the past six years.
