Sergeant Major Daniel J. Warren is a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, graduated from Currituck County High School in 1993, and joined the Marine Corps in 1994. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion, Private First Class Warren reported to Marine Corps School of Infantry for Marine Combat Training, Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Private First Class Warren then reported to Combat Engineer School, Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training as a Combat Engineer (1371).
Upon completion of MOS training as Honor Graduate and meritorious promoted, Lance Corporal Warren reported to 2d MAW, MWSG 27, MWSS 274, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina where he was assigned as a Basic Combat Engineer. In 1997, then Corporal Warren deployed to Guyana, South America in support of New Horizons ’97 as a Construction Foreman. Corporal Warren then attended Combat Engineer NCO course and completed as the Honor Graduate.
In December 1997, then Sergeant Warren reported to 3d Marine Division, 3d Combat Assault Battalion, Combat Engineer Company, Okinawa, Japan where he was assigned as Platoon Sergeant and in April 1998 was assigned to the 31st MEU(SOC) attached to BLT 3/5 and participated in Cobra Gold ’98 in Thailand and Co-Op from the Sea ’98 in Vladivostok, Russia.
In January 1999, Sergeant Warren reported to 3d MAW, MWSG 37, MWSS 373, MCAS Miramar, California for assignment as Construction Foreman/Platoon Sergeant. There he completed Cold weather survival training in Bridgeport, California and Urban Mobility Breacher Course (Honor Graduate) in Quantico, Virginia. After promotion to Staff Sergeant, he was selected as the Marine Corps Engineer Association’s Engineer of the Year 2001.
In March 2002, Staff Sergeant Warren reported to MCRD San Diego to Recruiter School and upon graduation, reported to 4th Marine Corps District, RS Richmond, RSS Newport News, Virginia where he served as a Canvassing Recruiter. In August 2004, he was assigned to the Military Enlistment Processing Station at Fort Lee, Virginia as the Marine MEPS Liaison and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.
In October 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Warren reported to Marine Special Operations Command, 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California for duties as Engineer Chief. He attended and completed Engineer Operation Chief Course as Honor Graduate in 2007. In March 2008, Gunnery Sergeant Warren was assigned to Marine Special Operations Company Delta as Logistics/Engineer Chief and deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF XIII. After returning from deployment in June 2009, he attended Staff Advance Course in Quantico, Virginia and was selected to First Sergeant.
In December 2009, First Sergeant Warren was assigned to 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, Headquarters and Service Company, Camp Pendleton, California and served as H&S First Sergeant. In October 2010, he was assigned to Bravo Battery, 3rd LAAD Bn and completed the Senior Enlisted PME course in Quantico, Virginia in April 2011.
In July 2011, First Sergeant Warren reported to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee Virginia and served as Company A First Sergeant for Food Service School, Bulk Fuel School, Air Delivery School, and Mortuary Affair School.
In July 2014, First Sergeant Warren reported to 2d Marine Division, 2D Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment for assignment as Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant and was selected to Sergeant Major.
In January 2015, Sergeant Major Warren reported to 2d MHG, 2D Radio Battalion, for assignment as Battalion Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Warren’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one Silver Star, and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
