Lieutenant Colonel Jacob A. Cramer of Mishawaka, Indiana commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps through the Officer Candidate Course in 2009. Upon completion of The Basic School and Basic Communications Officer Course, he began his career as a Communications Officer.
As a second and first lieutenant, he served with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Logistics Combat Element S-6 and 2d Marine Logistics Group Communication Company as a Platoon Commander.
As a captain, he served at Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group as a Coyote/C4I Instructor-Evaluator and 2d Intelligence Battalion as the H&S Co Company Commander and Battalion S-6.
As a major, he served at Joint Special Operations Command as a J6 Operations Branch Head and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit as the MEU S-6.
As a lieutenant colonel, he served at Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group as the Group Operations Officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Cramer holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies with concentrations in History, Psychology, and Sociology from Taylor University, a Master of Military Studies from Marine Corps University, and a Master of Arts in Information Technology Management from Webster University. He is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (resident), Command and Staff College (resident), the Marine Corps Space Operations Staff Officer Course, Specialized SERE-C, and the Basic Airborne Course.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Joint Service Commendation Medal with combat conditions device, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other Service and Campaign Medals.
He is married to the former Julia Smith, and together they have four children.
