A Norwegian F-35A Lightning II with 132nd Air Wing, 332nd squadron, is staged during forward arming and refueling point operations during exercise Cold Response to increase allied interoperability. Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 273, Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, established a forward arming and refueling point allows aviation assets to rapidly receive fuel and ordnance closer to the area of operations, which increases their operational tempo and lethality during exercise Cold Response 26. A key component of NATO's enhanced vigilance activity Arctic Sentry, exercise Cold Response 26 is a Norwegian-led winter military exercise designed to enhance collective defense capabilities and ensure U.S. readiness to rapidly deploy and seamlessly operate alongside NATO Allies in challenging arctic conditions.
