WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Marine Corps’ explosive ordnance disposal units travel all over the world to enhance their knowledge of ordnance. From May 19 - 30, 2025, EOD technicians with 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, and 3rd MLG, III MEF, upon invitation by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, worked on a special project under the supervision of the museum’s collections and curatorial staff to inspect, identify and create a database of ordnance from past wars ranging from the American Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War.

Travis Brashear, bulk fuel specialist, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina, has been named the June 2025 MCAS New River Go-Getter. A native of Mt. Airy, Maryland, Brashear’s journey to the Marine Corps was inspired by his baseball coach and his own determination.
The day was sunny and the roads were dry – ideal conditions for driving – as U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Willie Stewart drove his truck down Interstate 95. He was heading to Norfolk, Virginia, on May 17, 2025, to board a U.S. Navy ship that would take him to Fleet Week New York.
