2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade Motivator of the Week

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Corey Mathews, a combat videographer with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, takes photographs of Afghan individuals on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Oct. 11, 2021. Mathews was recognized as the motivator of the week for his contributions to Task Force Pickett and Operation Allies Welcome. During his time with the task force, he produced hundreds of photographs and created four video productions, most of his efforts being disseminated throughout various media outlets and viewed by millions across the nation. “Being a part of this operation means a lot to me because the world is watching,” said Mathews. “Being able to be the one taking the pictures and videos to tell the story of these people is one of the reasons I joined and I’m glad to get the opportunity to be here” Said Mathews. U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Eric Ramirez, a combat videographer with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, interacts with Afghan children on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Oct. 11, 2021. Ramirez was recognized as the motivator of the week for his success in producing unique and compelling visual products, highlighting events and stories occurring at Task Force Pickett. He was instrumental in creating a welcome aboard video in Dari and Pushto, communicating critical information about the immigration process to thousands of Afghan individuals at Fort Pickett. “A picture is worth a thousand words,” said Ramirez. “It is pretty amazing being able to gain a multitude of different experiences just by doing my job. Being able to capture moments during Operation Allies Welcome is an honor. It allows me to help tell the story of an operation that is history in the making. 2d Marine Division Motivator of the Week

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dylan Sams, a Wideband Satellite Systems Maintainer assigned to 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is titled Motivator of the Week for his dedicated work ethic and technical proficiency during Operation Allies Welcome on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Sept. 22, 2021. “I really believe I am just doing my job,” Sams said. “I help people and when I see that something needs to get done, I get it done.” According to his leadership, Sams conducted over 60 hours of troubleshooting on four satellite transmissions systems while also identifying multiple faults on satellite communication systems. U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Guyette is nominated as the II MEF Motivator of the week because she’s well-rounded, sets the example and leads from the front. “If you want to be a good Marine, you have to be a good person first," Guyette said. Guyette is COMMSTRAT’s top-performer in physical fitness, is actively working to earn a degree in Criminal Justice, often seeks out opportunities to cross-train in other COMMSTRAT MOSs and spends extensive off-duty time coaching children’s soccer in the local community. Her MOS proficiency, professional appearance, and determination to constantly improve sets her apart from her peers.

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Elijah Gueymock is a team player who seeks all opportunities to make himself well-rounded. He was selected as the 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade Marine of the Quarter (3rd quarter) for his exceptional performance during BALTOPS 50. “Greatness will only come to those who take it,” Gueymock said. ​He was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for this selection. Gueymock exemplifies the whole Marine concept and is an outstanding asset to the 2d MEB Team
