U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Matthew T. Ubl, a light armored vehicle repair technician with Alpha Company, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, salutes Lt. Col. Christopher Conner, the commanding officer for Alpha Co., 2d LAR, on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, June 4, 2020. Ubl received a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his efforts executing cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 15 minutes on an unknown, unconscious civilian, which contributed to saving the man’s life. Maj. Gen. David J. Furness, the commanding general of 2nd Marine Division, visits the Expeditionary Staging Area on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., May 5, 2020. The ESA was established to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 by providing newly arrived recruits a medical screening and observation area.
