U.S. Marines and Sailors with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)) man the rails of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Jul. 10, 2023. Manning the rails is a long-standing naval tradition performed to render honors prior to a ship departing a port. The 26th MEU(SOC) and Bataan ARG are trained and certified in a wide range of flexible capabilities across the spectrum of military conflict. Throughout their deployment, they will train and conduct operations alongside Allies and Partners, improving interoperability while demonstrating the combat power and flexibility of the Navy-Marine Corps team.
