Commanding Officer, 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas B. Turner

Lieutenant Colonel Brent Turner graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in May 2002. Commissioned through the NROTC scholarship program, he attended The Basic School and Army Military Police Officer Basic Course prior to reporting for duty with 3d Marine Division on Okinawa, Japan in March 2003. Initially assigned to the Marine Corps Base Camp Butler Provost Marshal’s Office (PMO), he served as the PMO Training Officer. In May 2003, LtCol Turner was assigned to Combat Assault Battalion and deployed as the Landing Force Force Protection Officer aboard the USS Harpers Ferry in support of the Cooperation Afloat Readiness And Training (CARAT) bilateral training evolution. Upon his return to Okinawa in October 2003, LtCol Turner was reassigned to the installation PMO where he served as the Officer in Charge for Military Police District North. 

Reporting in April 2004 to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, LtCol Turner served as the Deputy Provost Marshal. Upon selection to Captain in summer 2006, LtCol Turner was reassigned to the AC/S G-3 where he served as the Assistant Training Officer for MCRD San Diego and the Western Recruiting Region until his transfer in December 2006.

In January 2007, LtCol Turner reported to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort where he assumed duties as the Deputy Provost Marshal, responsible for security and law enforcement in support of MCAS Beaufort and MCRD Parris Island. In August 2008, LtCol Turner was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Combined Joint Task Force 101. Upon reporting to Task Force Anzio on Kandahar Airfield, LtCol Turner was assigned to serve as the U.S. Provost Marshal and Force Protection Officer for Kandahar Airfield and Regional Command South. Additionally, he served as the U.S. law enforcement and security liaison to the local NATO Command Element.

In February 2010, LtCol Turner attended the Army Military Police Captain’s Career Course where he graduated on the Commandant’s List. During this period, LtCol Turner attended evening courses and achieved his Masters in Business and Organizational Security Management from the George Herbert Walker School of Business, Webster University.

In July 2010, LtCol Turner reported to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan to serve as the Provost Marshal. After a successful tour in Iwakuni, LtCol Turner reported to 2d Marine Logistics Group in July 2013. During this period LtCol Turner served as a Company Commander for MTX 5-13, the G-3 Current Operations Officer, and the G-3 Future Operations Officer. 

LtCol Turner graduated in November 2015 from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where he earned an Associates Degree in Foreign Language. Upon completion, he reported to the Brazilian Naval War College in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After graduating the Command and Staff Course in December 2016, LtCol Turner was awarded a Masters in Naval Sciences from the Brazilian Navy. LtCol Turner subsequently earned the additional MOS of 8241, Foreign Area Officer, Latin America.

LtCol Turner served as the Executive Officer for 2d Law Enforcement Battalion, II MIG, II MEF from February 2017 until May of 2018, after which time he was selected to serve as Chief of Staff for Task Force Southwest (TFSW) 19.1.

In September 2018, LtCol Turner deployed to Helmand Province where he served as the Chief of Staff for TFSW, in support of Operation FREEDOM'S SENTINEL and the RESOLUTE SUPPORT mission, for Helmand and Nimroz Provinces, Afghanistan. Following a June 2019 redeployment, LtCol Turner reported to II MEF, G-3, where he served as the Mission Assurance Officer.

LtCol Turner’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal as well as the Combat Action Ribbon.
