An Afghan Air Force MD-530 helicopter flies above Camp Shroabak, Afghanistan as Afghan tactical air controllers conduct simulated airstrike training Dec. 18, 2017. Several ATACs worked with coalition advisors to direct strikes onto notional Taliban targets in preparation for upcoming operations in Helmand province. On the battlefield, ATACs routinely call in air-based fire support to destroy enemy targets, allowing for more freedom of movement and enhanced security for Afghan forces.
