"Do or do not, there is no try.," said Davis, a Statesville, N.C., native. According to her leadership, HM1 Davis has performed exceptionally with 2d MEB since June 20, 2018.  She is a very determined, well rounded, and energetic individual who exudes a high level of morale to those around her.  Recently she was selected as the  Sailor of the Quarter for FY20 4th Quarter as well as managed the tracking and reporting of all 2d MEB COVID-19 related matters.  Due to her daily management, 2d MEBs medical and dental readiness have been at 98% for mission readiness. Her initiative, perseverance, and total dedication to duty reflected credit upon herself, and are in keeping with the highest traditions of Marine Corps and United States Naval Service. Cpl Barrett is currently serving in a billet above his current pay grade and excels in all facets within his role and responsibilities. Cpl Barrett has a contagious winning attitude that spreads to his peers and subordinates. "Courage is not having the strength to go on, it is going on when you do not have the strength," said Malenga, a Las Vegas, NV, native. According to his leadership, Malenga has been an asset since his arrival. LCpl Malenga ensures his duties are completed to the best of his ability and takes personal pride in the quality of his work and attention to detail.  Although legal is one of the busiest sections within the S1, any time LCpl Malenga does have, he utilizes to ask questions and cross train with his peers in order to grow within his field.  As a result, he has been able to more efficiently track and process over 150 administrative separations, command investigations, NJPs, and courts martials.  LCpl Malenga is a trustworthy team player who is always ready and willing to cover down for his team in any capacity he is needed while maintaining an enthusiastic positive attitude and uplifting everyone around him. U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Caleb Mendez, an electrician with Engineer Platoon, Service Company, 8th Communication Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, poses for a photo on Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 21, 2020. “Be the leader that others want to emulate,” said Mendez, a Franklin, Mass. native. According to his leadership, Mendez is an extremely motivated and resourceful individual. Mendez performs his duties and responsibilities to the highest degree possible and consistently raises the bar as to what is expected. During MEFEX 21.1, Mendez was responsible for the successful operation of four separate electrical architectural plans, capable of providing over 400,000 watts of power, 612,000 British Thermal Units of HVAC capability and supplying 233,280 kilowatts per hour. Additionally, his advanced proficiency toward planning and operation of utilities equipment reduced principle-end items, which saved the battalion transportation space and laboring demands on the engineer platoon. Mendez's dedication to the mission’s success reflected in over 300-man-hours of fully-operational utility equipment, and 20-total-man-hours of maintenance. LCpl. Devin J. Taylor, a motor vehicle operator with, Transportation Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 8, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2d Marine Logistics Group, poses for a photo on Camp Lejeune, N.C., December 16, 2020. “A man’s true character will show when faced with adversity,” said Taylor, a Los Angeles, Calif., native. According to his leadership, Taylor Taylor has been a vital asset throughout the duration of Integrated Warfighting Exercise/MAGTF Warfighting Exercise 1-21.  Due to LCpl. Taylor’s technical expertise and uncompromising work ethic, units across the AO were able to be supplied with 23,142 lbs. of ammunition in order to conduct training for the duration of the 45 day exercise.  Concurrently, LCpl. Taylor did not hesitate to assist and improve his platoon’s tactical performance by conducting IA drills, machine gun drills, and route planning. LCpl. Taylor is always at the forefront of any challenge by  navigating recovery missions and taking over as convoy commander while his platoon commander was called to lead some different tasks during convoy operations . LCpl. Taylor’s dependability, reliability, and positive influence makes him highly deserving of Motivator of the Week.
